What is everyone’s thoughts on Valentine’s Day? While we think it’s nice to celebrate relationships, a feed full of madly in love people shouting about how complete and perfect their life is just seems to miss the point a little bit. Surely it’s the isms, silly moments and imperfections unique to you that are special and should be celebrated..? So what’s our story? We met ten years at university when drunkenly running for a bus Jess slipped in a puddle and covered herself head to toe in mud. It was(n’t) love at first sight. Since then we have been very lucky, travelling the world together and getting up to all sorts. But it’s also been hard work at times, with the ups come some downs.. but luckily we have managed to navigate these and bounce back stronger every time. Point is, relationships are hard work, so don’t be fooled into thinking that the perfection you see on social media tells the full story. That said it’s a great opportunity to focus on all the good things. 👫
The Whole Picture... 🇨🇳 - Do you recognise this other worldly landscape from anywhere? They are the Zhangjiajie mountains in the Hunan Province, China and were the inspiration for Pandora landscape in James Cameron’s Avatar. Stunning stacks of rock shoot up out the ground forming one of the most intriguing landscapes we’ve laid eyes on. Flip side: However the first picture only tells half the story, swipe right to see the other half. Although the scene was beautiful, it came at a price... the landscapes new found Hollywood fame means that tourists flock in their thousands each day to see them and get a picture (us included). You could argue it’s all part of the experience of being a tourist in China, but it feels important to share the full story on here rather than have people believe every moment is secluded perfection!
#AD Q: What is the closet mountain to London? - A: Pen-y-Fan, Wales. Standing at 886m in the Brecon Beacons and only a 3 hour drive from London it is the perfect location for a mini adventure. So when @canonuk asked us to try out the PowerShot SX740 HS we knew what to do. We scraped ourselves out of bed at 6am and were stood at the base of the mountain by 9:30. We had got lucky... the night before it had snowed and to make matters better it was an almost perfect blue sky January day. Armed with the PowerShot tucked neatly into a pocket we started the climb. When we reached the summit we were blown away - 360 degree views of the spectacular, snowcapped mountains surrounded us - It felt more like we were exploring Canada than Wales! And that’s when the PowerShot came into its own, shooting the landscape in Ultra 4K definition, capturing the dreamy winter scene perfectly as 20.3 megapixel photos. After half an hour of exploring the top we headed down to the warmth of our car. We had escaped London and climbed a mountain all in time for a pub lunch. First Warmth... 🇬🇧 - This may appear to be a picture of Jess ‘living the dream’ - soaking up early morning Nevadan sunshine, but of course not all is always as it seems on instagram. This picture was in fact taken mid way through a pretty big argument. We hadn’t slept much the night before and were passionately (aggressively) disagreeing as to where the best place to watch the sunrise was. A silly argument I know, however these things happen when you’re away... and believe me we’ve had sillier Anyway the point is context is key and truth be told travelling with your other half ain’t always sunshine and lollipops. But these ups and downs are all part of the experience and over time you learn to laugh them off... we wouldn’t have it any other way 🤥 How about you guys? Morning Rituals... 🇮🇳 - Varanasi is known as the spiritual capital of India and is one of the oldest living cities in the world. Built on the banks of the holy river Ganges, pilgrims come from all over the country to bathe in the sacred waters. Riverfront steps known as Ghats lead pilgrims to the water where they wash in the belief that it will purify their soul. We took an early morning boat ride along the river to watch the spectacle as hundreds of people began their day down on the Ghats - washing, chatting and watching the sunrise over the water. This was one of our favourite experiences of last year 👌🏻
